RE: Dont Pump Gas On May 15th
off subject( i couldnt risk running off road fuel, ive never been checked , but i heard the fine was pretty high.
and the people they check most for that is farmers, or people pulling tractors.
if it has a tag on it, even a farm tag , you have to run taxed fuel.
but yeah it pizzes me off too[:@]

RE: Dont Pump Gas On May 15th
Please read this so you understand how dumb of an idea people are spreading.
That will do ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NO GOOD.
I dont know why people cant get it thru their heads that oil companies
and gas stations do NOT set the price of gas.
Gas prices are set in the open market where it is traded as a commoditiy.
New York day traders set the price of gas. not shell or exxon
OPEC doent even set the price of gas.
The price of oil has gone up 50% ( and you can blame that on China growing at insane rate right now )
The price of gas has gone up 100%
Gas prices are so high becuase refineries are running at max production levels
and having a hard time keeping up with demand.
This worries commodities traders that there is a shortage or possible shortage so the price goes up.
Yes exxon/mobile and shell and chevron are all getting rich, but thats
just their lucky by-product of panicy New York traders.
They are also making record profits becase they are selling record amounts of product too.
If you sell more product you expect to make more money right????
This same logic applies to heating oil. Any of you up north notice how heating oil
prices can spike due to low supply and high demand? same thing.

yes it is a choice.
is it right? .......... thats debateable.
Food is also run under the same market conditions.
Lots of farmers get rich or go broke under same practices
that have gas high right now.
again it comes down to supply and demand.
When demand is high and supply is low, prices go up.
If we lost a couple of major refineries you would see gas shoot up
to $5.00.
I live and work in Houston in the petro-chem business and the
refineries are working at 100% level and have been doing major
expansions over that last 10 years trying to keep up
