Default Weight Reduction

I was bored at work today so I thought of some weight reductiong, that everyone can do, to lighten up our boats. Most of these items are free or fairly cheap. Please feel free to add any items or info that I missed. Note Some of these items are on the extreme side of reducing weight, but I listed the majority of the Items I could think of. I will try to get some how-to off the internet, and make some myself when I start shaving pounds on my stang.


Weight Reduction
-Remove Spare tire & Jack
-Racing Seats
-Remove Air Conditioning
-Rear Seat Delete
-Sound Deadining(sp?) In trunk and under rear seat and in Interior panels
-Trunk Panels
-Fender Weights (Verts Only)
-Black Block around the Driveshaft (Ry could you elaborate on this more)
-Strut tower brace
-Stock mid-pipes and Headers weigh a ton
-Smog System
-Aluminum Heads
-Fiberglass or Carbon Fiber Hoods
-Remove Spoilers
-Carbon Fiber Trunk
-New K-member
-A-Arms
-Rear Control Arms
-Aluminum Driveshaft
-Get a Gym Membership

Track Weight Reduction
-Remove Sterio Equipment
-Put Spare tires on Front for skinnies(Use Real Tires), Drag Racing rims
-Take out passenger Seat

Weight Transfer
-Remove Front Swaybar
-Relocate Battery

spare tires are a no no for drag racing,allthough they are small and light the tires are only rated for 50 mph.

LOL i didnt even see that. Yea, never run a SPARE TIRE at the track, that would be stupid lol.

Not to contridict any of you guys, but I used to see the VW Bugs at the track in Houston, Tx run those temp tires at 140 or better in the quarter. Seen quite a few blow outs too!!!!!

you can use the spare rim just buy a real tire for it.
and how much does a GT passenger seat weigh?

Id keep the strut tower brace. It helps keep the strut towers from flexing during a turn.

Aluminum driveshaft helps some to.

yea dude...gym membership sounds like it would most significantly drop some weight on the track
might take a whiel...but good idea
i'll look into that
