A bigger pump won't help if you have a regulator issue.

Maybe it's time to take it to a shop instead of continuing to guess at it.

When did this problem start? 1-2 psi difference isn't going to make that big of a deal. Not trying to sound stupid but your valves are adjusted correctly aren't they? You don't have a lifter pumped up and just cracking the valve off the seat do you? I incorrectly adjusted the valves on a big block Chevy one time and it did the same thing. Above 3500 it would pop and crack out the exhaust but at lower speeds it was fine.

started a while ago. i guess a month or so, ive been tryin to fix it for a while now. and as for the valves, i had the heads redone and all that fun shyt by a mechanic a little whileago, when i was doing head gaskets...it went about 2 months or so just fine off of them. then started, and got progressivly worse.

Did the popping quits once you had the heads redone. I am wondering if something loosened up inside. an adjustment of some sort. just a thought if everything was fine for a while and then started to get progressively worse.

thanks dime, I will look into the fpr. Maybe it is time to take the valve covers off and take a look.
