You're right... but I was just being on the safe side. My combo is also gonna get a 125 shot of nitrous... that'll put me over 525hp and I'm really worried I'm going to end up splitting the stock block.
get those reinforcements for the block, that way if it splits, your internals will be ok.
Tell me about these reinforcements, I have heard of them.

MM&FF did a head test on the 331, the afr 185's smoked all heads out there on the market. thats what I'm going to put on my 331. they got like 445 hp, although it was carbureted, 9.1 with the afr's also so theres probably a little more power if you have between 10 and 11.1

Why do people chose 331 over a 347 are they cheaper?

They choose the 331 because they don't know any better. The kits are the same price.

I think the best H/C/I for a 331 would be...canfeild 195 heads, a custom grind cam, and a system maxx intake, probably around 400rwhp with that.

mainly personal preferance on the 331 vs 347... oil above the piston issue has been fixed with the 347; the 347 does have a longer stroker (pistons move more (more stress) ). the 347 has to have the block notched and the pistons move further down the cylinder wall.

i went with a 331 setup...

I made 340 rwhp with my 331 with 185's, TFS track heat intake and an XE274HR cam. What timing are you running? I kept mine stock to be safe.AFR said I could have gotten 20 more with timing. I was running 165's till my valve broke. I think it really depends on what you want to do with the motor. There are a lot of options out there.
