throttle position sensor problems

Default throttle position sensor problems

I have a 88 stang 5.0 and I am having problems with my tps. It won't set, when I check the voltage on the green wire it is reading 4.56 volts and on the black wire which I think is supposed to be a ground is reading 4.56 volts if anyone has a cule what is wrong please post. Thanks

Sounds like the sensor itself may be bad. Check your meter on the battery first just to make sure the tool is accurate. If it is and you can't manipulate the volts on the sensor when turning it then get a new sensor.

Thanks, for the reply I tried nother sensor and it was the same voltage.

hollow out your holes on your TPS and twist and tighten it down to get it to read right but when yo ufirst turn you key on and engine off it needs to read round 0.98

I would ground it to somewhere else on the car...not the black wire.

I normally ground it to the bolt that holds the ThrottleBody to the manifold
