I have a 1990 LX 5.0 liter, every time I go over speed bumps, hard turns, or any unever surfaces or potholes the hatch back comes unlocked. I have looked at it and everything looks to be in order. The damn thing just wont stay shut when I drive around town. Does anyone know what the problem or solution could be?

latch or striker must be bad, or out of adjustment.

Is it electric release - could be a short somewhere that only appears during the bumps. If it is electric, disconnect it back at the stricker and then see if it still pops open over bumps. That will help determine electrical vs mechanical.
