Should he buy it????
My friend wants to buy this very clean 1991 mustang lx, its flawless and has a nice stereo and runs great. The thing is when we did the carfax on it it came up as having 180,000 miles on it. The owners swears that it only has 80,000. Should he buy it and what is the highest he should pay for it?

If the car is clean, runs good and he has checked it out (or had a mechanic check it) then that's about as good as you can do with a used vehicle. Fact of the matter is you never can be 100% sure so you make your best educated guess. If everything else were on par I wouldn't let that stop me, however I would figure it into what I would give for it.

180K and he said it only has 80k, I would be a little worried what else he might be hiding cuz if he lied about that and not expecteding u to do a carfax then he might be hiding something else.but its your decision if u like the car enough then i would go for it and for value wise i would KBB it.

the guy is a lier... throw him a low ball offer like... if everyhting on it is nice and you just unsure of engine parts then id say throw him a 1200 buck offer and say its all its worth since your lying about hte mileage and if he sells u get a deal and worse that happens is u have to buy a new engine or rebuild you old one... hell some sound systems cost 800 bucks by themselves id interior and paint is nice doesnt matter how it would run 1200 would be a nice deal for u.... but make sure tehre isnt something else wrong with it.... i dont like liers.... and its obvious it changed the odometer so how... 180k to 80k isnt just a coensidence
