Hey everyone;
There is a recycler I go to often and he always has Exploder 5.0's in there with the GT40-P heads and intakes on them. You basicly get a complete engine that is in need of a rebuild. There are no accessories, no wires, no hoses just the upper intake, lower intake, heads and block.
These engines come in because they are worn out and tired or had something fail with them.
He wants $250 for a complete engine. Is that worth it?
Also what do the cast lines on the head mean? 3 or 4 lines or some junk.
I can also get complete 4.6L engines there, iron and aluminum and all the iron 5.4L engines I want. All for $250 complete.
All will need rebuilds of course but hell
I know the aluminum 4.6L's are worth the cost but I dont know if I would go that far for the iron lungs he has.
Unfortunatly he crushed his last group of aluminum 4.6L's earlier last month [sm=icon_flaming.gif]
Thanks everyone

PS What commonly goes wrong with these exploder engines to put them here? He said that they have rotating assy failures.

96-97.5 exploders were GT-40 heads... you can easily get $300 a set on ebay for them, The intakes also will go for a good $100-$200. so grab them and see what you can make off them.
97.5-up 5.0 exploders had gt-40P heads

Yeah, but this way you can tell without taking the valve covers off... it's a little easier at least (unless the valve covers are already off it anyway) [&:]

Awesome, thanks for all the help guys.
What were the year ranges of the Exploder with the 5.0?
Are all the blocks the same? How much power can they handle? I assume they are 2 bolt mains.
Any problems with core shift like the earlier 5.0L?
Thanks
