hey guys, what do u think i could run in the 1/4
see my mods below. My best time in the 1/8 is 8.8 @ almost 79mph with a 2.1 60ft. I was on bald street tires spinning pretty bad. I dont have access to a 1/4 mile track but hope to travel to one this spring or summer. How much diffrence do u guys think drag radials would make? what about et streets? Also, how hard should I launch without being too hard on my drivetrain? Will my stock axles and stuff hold up? Thanks in advance guys. I appretiate all of the help and advice I've got from these forums.

you would get somehwere around mid to low 13's if your pretty good im guessin.... and drag raidials would make a huge difference, i hear of people launchin at 4k all day long on stock drivetrain

With a 2.1 60 (which would be better with traction) I would also say that it probably a high 13 or low 14 second time in the 1/4, but with drag radials you could lower that as much as .5-.8 seconds faster. Traction makes a huge differance. Well as for the drivetrain, I know numerous people who have more power then their 5.0's drivetrain was ever made for, and they hold up just fine. I have seen very few 87-93 stangs blow a rear end, and I know a guy with GT40 Alum. heads, X303 cam, Performer RPM II intake, full exhaust, and a Vortech 9psi, and he has stock t-5, and rear save for 31 spline axles, and 3.55 gears. With M/T radials, he runs 10.60 pulling both wheels off the ground. Not bad for a 5.0 with no suspention mods and a moderately stock drivetrain. Oh and btw, it's a 331. Yeah, they are strong Built Ford Tough!

If you get some drag radials, then with what you have your combination is capable of 13.6 - 13.4 as long as you launch good and you shift right.
What do you guys think about his choice in gear ratio considering his stock heads?
