Default RE: cam question

need to do heads with the cam.
the heads are biggest choke point on those engines.

E cam with some Explorer GT-40P's would give it a nice kick for cheap

think rear-end gears too. You wont belive what a set of 3.73's
will do for a stock car.

Also some good tricks like bumping the base timing too.

really any cam swap with stock heads is going to yeild very little gain and my infact leave you slower should you pick a cam that makes peak power where your heads and springs begin to fall off with a sluggish bottom end. Alot of work for a 10-20 peak gain.

500 for nice used GT40 heads (GT40P's will require different headers but no big cost) TFS cam...150. Gaskets and hardware....100-150 (stick with proven products for these..felpro and ARP) Explorer or used cobra intake 200-500.
Your likely end up in the 250-260 range (at the wheels), consider most STOCK stick 5.0's lay down 190's...you're looking at a good 60-70 Hp gain over stock. With an easy combo like this you should upgrade the pump, but the stock injectors and maf will do fine. Good sticky tires and nice driving will net you 12's with a combo like that.

$500 for 3.73 gear install too. you'll "feel" that even more than head/cam swap.

look man, I started w/ E-cam, T/B, 4.10's, stall conv.,exaust, and I ran neck and neck w/a 97 SS Camaro.
Ive done a bunch of other stuff to it now.
If you got a manual I would go w/ F-cam, Auto= E-cam
do your thing and dont listen to these haters
