Default Purchasing a 5.0 Please chime in

I'm buying an 87-93 fox very shortly and don't know what route to go. All the 5.0 mustangs are at rip off prices and at least 4k for a decent condition.

I think i'm going to buy a 5spd. 4 banger in the area and swap the motor out. What will be neded for the swap and is it worth it? Will the tranny work with the new motor i'll toss in? Please help me out guys!

Thanks!

for all the time and money you have to spend to swap, just buy the 5.0... just my opinion.

+1 in the end i think yu;d regret it unless you plan on something more than a stock 302 and you enjoy thr work. There's a lot more to it then just the motor. ie tranny, suspension, ecu, rad etc.

getafewlives the hatch in your signature is exactly what i'm looking for what is your mileage?what was it when you bought and how much did you pay back then? I really can't find a decent 5.0 for a considerable price. I really want one with weld draglites because I will end up paying for them anyway..

It will cost more $$ to do a conversion than to buy a stock 5.0...

Other than what getafewlives said...The only real advantage that I see toconverting a 4-banger is the fact that when you insure it....you can do it under a 4-cly title.

Keep shopping!

no matter what no matter where you are your gonna pay $4000+ for a nice 5.0 mustang. Also to do the swap you pretty much need a complete 5.0 car to complete the swap correctly so buying one for $4000+ makes quite a bit more sense

i could have bought a 92 notchback 4cyl auto with only about 32000miles for $2000 mint condition and do the swap but once again by the time its all said and done i would have more then $5000 before it was done and thats with hardly any mods at all

I would say buy what you want. If you can't afford what you want then buy the closest thing to it or save your money until you can.

Spend the money on the 5.0 up front and you'll save yourself time and money in the long run. Keep looking they're out there.

I'm probably just going to save for a 5.0...

I just really don't see any good deals coming around. I want it to have nice interior and good paint and low miles. Like I said I want one with weld drag lites and don't mind doing work to the car to fix it up. I'm just having trouble finding anything of a good deal. The main thing is finding the 5.0 with an engine that isn't toasted.
