Default Timing problems??

I was just trying to adjust my timing on the stang and read threw some of the older posts on the subject but couldnt really get a straight answer. I warmed the car up to normal operating temp, shut it off and pulled the spout connector. I started it back up and pointed the timing light at the balancer. At idle I am set at about 14-15 degrees. I tried this two ways I shut it back off and plugged the spout connector back in and tried plugging it in while running. My timing jumped up to 30 degrees. There is no change in my idle which is about 800-900 rpm. What could be my problem?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Did you change your timing or was it already set at 14 - 15 degrees? (base timing is 10 degrees.) Either way, changing your timing will not change your idle... well if you go too far to the extreme it will, but that's not how you adjust your idle.

When you plug the spout connected it's going to jump to a higher timing. It's supposed to do that

It was already set at 14-15 its hard to really see those tic marks even with chalk in the grooves but i figured it would stay at whatever its set to when I plugged the spout back in not jump to the 30 deg mark.

I've having trouble understanding your run-on sentence. I think your saying that you expect your timing to stay at 14 degrees when you plug the spout back in. If so then no, your timing advances itself once the spout is plugged back in. That is normal.

That is why you pulled the spout.....if it was the same then it would not be necessary right

Yes, it's doing the right thing. When you plug the spout back in, the computer takes over the timing again and adjusts it accordingly.
