Default leak free header advice

I have had JBA shortys on my fox for 10 yrsand am getting ready to remove them and reinstall them with better gaskets and stage 8 bolts because im tired of it sounding like crap. Do I need to apply any kind of rtv or anything to ensure a good leak free seal and someone told me to start in the front and tighten to the rear. Is this correct?I bought the Percys seal for good gaskets so I hope they live up to their name.

Thankyou for any advice you can give!
Mike

most headers you need to move a lil material because of crappy welds which is rare on a JBA header

I've have a set of copper gaskets with exhaust sealant (the orange crap made by permatex). I've yet to have a leak with regular header bolts. When I do manifold jobs at work I alway use a steel or copper gasket with sealant and have yet to have atruck come back.

+1 and I just use a normal gasket and normal bolts and I have no leaks.

I used Percy's dead soft aluminum header gaskets and I have no complaints yet. I also use locking washers on my header bolts
