Default shift point???

what rpm is the best to shift at in a completely stock 5.0?? my friend usually shifts around 4500 is that correct or shoud he shift hire and if so how much??? thanks in advance..

around 5,200-5,300 is about right to shift at for a stock 5.0 engine

one more thing is that in all gears or just the first to second shift?? if not in all gears what should be the 2-3 shift??

take every gear all the way up to 5k or so as long as you can provide traction

i only shift at 4,500 thats just cz i'm pushin 167,000 and i don't wanna screw up my valves

i never rev above 4600. i shift at around 4500 which is fine because 5.0s make a lot of torque so theres no need to shift so high.

your not evening letting the car make full power. full power is at 4800 rpms and then goes flat to 5200 then drops off after that. yes 302s make torque but only 300 at 3k rpms[give or take a few] i would personally shift mine at 5500 for the fact that when you do shift rpms will drop and you dont want them too low or youll lose time. when you shift you want your rpms being in the power range. if you shift your 5.0 only at 4600 you will only run like a 15.

dude your car looks like its been in a wreck before. the frotn body lines look like they are pushed down a little bit. your not going to screw up yoru valves with a stock motor so yes you can take it higher but dotn shift at 6k and miss
