Default Eliminate AC and SMOG

I am putting together my 86 this weekend and I will not have AC or Smog. But the doner motor out of the 85 had AC and Smog. So my brackets are not correct for what I want to do.

Can I use these brackets without spending a bunch of cash on AC and Smog Pump eliminators. Or what should I get the correct brackets off of.

Dorman Motormite sells the eliminators for pretty cheap. About 30 bucks a piece, it sounds like alot but you are going to at least need a shorter belt and they are on average 30 dollars alone for agood serpintine belt. I thinkin orderto make it work without the eliminators you will have to relocate the tensioner.Removing the smog and using a shorter belt is no problem but when you take the compressor off that creates a problem. I say remove the smog pump but just get the a.c. eliminator and find a belt that will work.

get the MARCH alt bracket with tensioning rod, that way you can dump the bulky/ugly alt/smog bracket and the tensionner, then mesure it with a piece of string and go get a belt that fits.

If you get it from March, its part number 1460. I got it a little while ago, looks pretty good and does the job. Then buy a shorter belt since you're not running smog pump either.

www.marchperf.com
product listing says up to 93, but i dont see any reason it wouldn't fit the same motor in a different car
