GT40 Heads Plans
My plans formy GT-40 irons are:
Stainless Steel undercut valves
Valve Job
Mild port work (done by me)
grinding down the thermocator bumps
smoothing the exhaust ports
smoothing the intake ports
smoothing the bowls
Maybe deck the heads to raise the compression a little
What do you guys think about what im planning on doing to the heads? The car is going to be a DD so I dont want to raise the compression to much bc I want to run 87 octane in the car so how much can I deck them?

Sounds good, however I would NOT smooth the intake ports. The rougher surface will help atomize the air/fuel. I have GT40s being decked and ported as we speak and the guy doing them told me the same thing.
just knock down any casting flash on the intake side if there is any, and if you wanna port match them you can open them up to match the intake gasket but be sure to do it on the intake as well.
have them knock the guides down a tad so you can run dual springs in the future if you need to and you wont have to worry about the retainer hitting the top of the seals. its really easy for them to cut em down, btu they'll probably try to overcharge you.
i wouldnt deck too much off the heads unless you wanna have intake port alignment issues and pushrod length issues, just have them mill em till they are cleaned up.
lastly..... dont use manley valves. trust me on this. spend the money and get ferrea's. even the low end ferrea valves are excellent.

sounds good, concentrate on the exhaust side, my buddy went 11.80 in a full weight GT, same heads, same port work, box stock gt40 intake, 125 shot, 4.10's and drivin like a ****
