Default Missing and loud pop problem

I am having trouble with my car missing. I was wondering what the major places to find the issue would be??? I plan on checking all the plugs, wires and dis cap tommorow. I was thinking it could also be an injector (Just a hunch is all nothing to back that up), but I don't know how to check them. Also I am getting a loud popping sound as I cycle up through the rpm range (Thinking unburnt fuel in the cats). Sometimes it happens 3 times between gear changes, and sometimes not at all. If I stay above 2k RMP's then I don't hear it at all.

Thanks for any help in advance.

It really isn't a pinging issue (I am assuming that is what you are reffering to), more of a loud popping like someone smacking a 5 gallon bucket. I just put new wires, plugs, cap and rotor onher about 6 months ago along with adjusting the timing then as well (I don't have a timing light so I just bumped up the timing little by little until I heard pinging and then backed her off a little). I am going to check the wires and plugs tommorow (Murphy's law), but could the timing get back off again all of a sudden???

The popping sound your hearing sounds like a backfire through the intake? You may want to get a timing light and check it ,as you said many things can cause this but borrowing a timing light is going to be the cheapest thing to do atm.
