fan hitting shroud, engine sitting to low
Anybody ever have this problem? I think its my passenger motor mount, it looks like its completely shot and sitting about an inch to low, my fan is grinding down the edge when the car hits bumps. I would like to replace the motor mounts with more solid ones but still have some drivability, I will also replace the trany mount while im at it (is this difficult?) , anybody know a good place to buy mounts?

You can also move your shroud around a little as a quick fix, the two bolts that hold the shroud to the radiator can be loosened and there is a bit of play in it

I replaced mine with mounts from good ole Checker Auto.
I used the convertible mounts they actually are different than the hardtop/hatch mounts.
They are more solid and they will let the motor sit a little lower.
So check your fan clearance once they are in.
I had to push my fan shroud down as far as possible and make sure it was centered properly to clear.
Can see though where the tips have dragged a bit and worn on the fan.
I have seen some people who have cut the lower center section out of the fan shroud to solve this.
Why do this? The benefit is it lowers the center of gravity, and that helps with handling.
It also gave me the little added hood clearance when I put the Explorer intake on my motor
With the factory hood.

If you want something more solid than stock use poly mounts. 50resto has complete kits motor and trany. I just used stock replacements but i have a vert so the mounts are a little better.Don't hack up your shroud tho, you will be better off getting new mounts than going that route.
