That's easy to say at a computer chair, not so easy when you've got a girl you're trying to impress in the car, or a bunch of people hooting at you to smoke the tires. Just use good judgement man, the car won't do anything you dont' tell it to do.

yeah trying to show off will get you into trouble fast. shoot 2 day i messed my rim up in my dd. light rain made road slick-u turn-worn tires (from break stand-very stupid!!!) and back end kept sliding and didnt catch like it normally does...well the rim hit the curb and chewed it up and bent it...i was pissed. thats in my towncar. i want to cry. lol

I say be careful. We have a 4 cylinder ranger for a beater and if yours is like that, then the 5.0 is so much more fun to drive lol..you'll probably love torque after that. Try not to let the speed bug hit you though, or it will get you in trouble. But I know alot of cars that are faster, so just know that you're not the king of the road.

Best advice: Go to an icey parkinglot (with nothing in it... not even light posts.. those hurt) and get a rear wheel drive car and just give 'er get it into spins get it out just practice... then you shall be ready...lol.

My first car was my 94 GT and let me tell you don't let people encourage you to do anything because there sos doesn't take very kind to 16 year olds with tickets and the insrance company doesn't either......so be careful, have fun, and don't let the modding bug bite because it will hurt the pocket book!!!!!

Dont go out and drive a 5.0 for the very first time thinking you know how to drive, a 5.0 will definatly require you to seriously adjust your driving habits, my first car was an 86 5.0L, taught me MANY things about 5.0s and their habtis, then tragically she went up in flames, after that I got another 86 5.0L and thats what I'll drive till I die.

any good running 5.0 will have enough power to get u in alot of hurt if u treat it wrong, these cars get sideways in a minute. i say get a 2.3l mustang then when its too slow for u get a 5.0l and u will fully appreciate and respect the 5.0l beat on a 2.3l 5speed car as a learner car. drives alot the same but alot less power, but still getts sideways just as easily in the wet. these cars are no joke in the rain around corners. stock u cant drive as fast thru corners as most cars, the rear end will kick out on u

yeah true that about the rear end sliding out. It's scary the first time, so make sure there are no other cars (or curbs) around when you start to **** around with the traction. it'll bust loose just by hitting the gas a little in the rain, and in the snow you'll be constantly countersteering (something you should learn how to do well if you want to drive in the weather).
my first car i owned was a 84 5.0L, but I learned to drive in mom's caravan.
another thing, don't show off for people because forget about you getting hurt, you'll more likely just end up dinging up the car or doing something stupid to it like hitting a curb in your towncar. : P
