Default GT40 explorer heads, what years?

Im considering getting a set of GT-40 heads off a explorer, my question is What year explorers heads do i need? i remember hearing you can only use certain year ones. or so i was told..anyone?

You have to use certain headers if you get the gt-40p heads, which are 96.5 and up explorersI believe or you could get the regular gt-40 heads out of an explorer that is older than 96.5.

They switched over to Ps halfway through '97, not '96. The Ps went through '01

try searching a little bit maybe?

96-97.5 Exploders had GT-40 heads
97.5-up 5.0 exploders had gt-40P heads

I've never seen anyone ask this before. I never even knew it was possible. But since we're on the topic of original topics... what gears should I get? How much HP do I have? Can I beat my friend's LT1?

hey assssholesim at work and was in a hurry at the time i was hoping someone was bored and could just tell me without getting upset.

Ford's GT-40P Cylinder Heads
Explorer and GT40 intake upper and lower info
You need the year of 96- 97 1/2 only........ than they changed.......in early 97
