Default VALVE TRAIN

does anybody know if you have to use shorter push rods with a cam that has a lift of only 496 and does anybody know the proper procedure to tightening down the rockers and all that good stuff..........because I pulled my valve covers off today and there was about 4 or 5 of them that I could not even budge and when I went to loosen the nut it took all my strength hopefully nothing is f'ed up!!!!

No you will not need longer pushrods. What kind of rockers are you using? If they are stock, you just torque them to specified torque, there is no real sequence. If they are adjustable pedestal mount, you will have to check the lash and adjust with shims as necessary.

What do you have?

Start at the #1 cylinder and rotate the crank until the cam is on the base lobe of the cam on the intake side (once the exhaust side starts to rise). Tighten down to 24 #'s or whatever spec is.... do the same for the exhaust side (until the intake side starts to rise). Repeat for other cylinders....they will go in the firing order.....

Google "rocker install" for more details.

If they are 1.7 pedestal mounts you have to start with the firing order, once the exhaust side starts to raise, finger tighten allen bolt. Once the bolt will no longer turn easily, turn it .25 - .5 turns. If the rocker is still not tight (meaning you cannot torque it because the allen bolt is not pulled taught against the rocker) then you may have to use one of the supplied shims. Add a shim and repeat the process until it will torque (18ft. lbs. I believe). Do the same thing to the exhaust side.
