It's illegal in most states but it usually doesn't stop people. If you can't find someone to inspect the car for you, keep your stock H pipe and swap it out when it comes time for inspection. If you dont want to do that just get a pipe with highflow cats. At least in NY cats just have to be visable, they dont hook cars up to a sniffer so as long as your check engine light isnt on you're good to go.

doesnt smell unless you have an exhaust leak and its getting in the car. as long as you dont have any leaks and your motor is running right you wont smell anything. if you have dumps, you may smell it because the fumes will come into the car

I am asking cause I am bout to replace midpipe (cat gone bad) with a o/r x (since my inspect aint legit anyhow) and on another thread a guy was saying how horrible his o/r was and he wants a pipe with cats.
