Default high idle

hows it going?

i have been trying figure out why my girls 95 GT now has a high idle and i was hoping that someone could give me a hand. the only mod is an h-pipe with no cats and some flows. i already read "bad idle-need help - 12/15/2004" and although helpful it still idles high. the resistance and the voltage of the TPS are within specs as well as the voltage on the IAC. I also cleaned out the IAC and throttle body. the motor has been idling around 1200-2000 rpm in neutral or when the clutch is engaged at a stop. i also noticed that there was a slight glow in the headers (one of the few advantages of working in the dark) and i am pretty sure its not normal. i didnt want to just through parts at it so any help would be greatly appreciated. sorry so long.

turn the throttle stop screw on the throttle body out, and unplug the idle air control motor while you do this

idle has to be set with car fully wamred up, then unplug iac, then set idle with idle screw... if your screw is all the way out and it still is high, possible vaccume leak, also when adjusting idle screw it changes TPS

no go on the idle adjustment. it looks like the accelerator arm on the throttle body wont allow it to reach the lowered idle screw. i checked for any obstructions and it looked clear. checked for vacuum leaks and there was no change in idle. maybe my description needs some more detail. when i rev the motor past 3000 rpm the idle will drop to 2000 rpm for a second or two before it falls to about 1200-1500. i am so lost and frustrated that i dont know what to do next. i think i am going to check the EGR if i can get my hands on a vacuum pump bc i read that a faulty EGR can cause an idle problem. any other suggestions from anyone in this mustang world? please?

you must have read my mind bobby bc i just did that. it pulled a 33 off which denoted an EGR valve opening not detected. i took the EGR out and cleaned it. it didnt look like there was that much build up inside of it and i could manually move the valve up and down with ease. i dont know if i should replace the EGR or if there is a problem with the EVR solenoid. is it possible that there also could be an EGR vacuum problem? the weird part is that when i tried the engine on test where you keep the idle at 2000 it would drop to 1500 rpm on its own (no change in accelerator position). thanks again for all your input and keep it coming!

naw not the egr.... if the valve moves freely its ok.. you don't want any exhaust recirculation at idle.. if you did due to say a stuck open valve.. it would idle rough rather than high.

hmmm... isn't 1200-1500 about where the car idles when its started cold..? Maybe you have a bad coolant temp sensor. ?
