weight and hp
i know this is kinda a wheel question but it is also a horsepower question.. does anyone know the formula for how much horsepower you lose going with a larger heavier wheel?like comparing a 15in weld draglite wheel to an 18 inch cobra wheel..thats just and example

I don't think you're going to find anything on that small of a reciprocating difference. Whatever it is, it would probably be compounded by the fact you'd run a nice heavy Z rated radial on the 18" wheel and a much lighter bias ply on your 15" draglites to race on.

i have 17's and im just not happy with how it looks, i want bigger wheels.. you can still put a good size tire on an 18 inch wheel for the rear

i know that but i am gonna try to go as large of a side wall i can with a sticky tire.. my 17's now with 255's on the rear spin through third.. and if i go to the track i have a friend with some drag lites.. but i was just curious because of dyno numbers... i know those drag lites are only like 15 lbs each and most 17's or 18's are over 25 almost thirty... and i was told on a dyno it would make a pretty good difference going with a much lighter wheel

**roughly** every 100 lbs is 1 tenth
and every 10 hp is 1 tenth
every tenth is 1 car length
gives you an idea at least......and it all adds up, i just popped my sway bars....35 lbs total , 11 for the front, 24 for the back

wider does not mean more traction.. I proved that with my car

If you want traction, get some 275/50/15's and slap them on a set of weld's
If your running street tires, im not suprised your spinning through third
If you wanna keep the wheels you have now and just try to help youself a little bit with traction.. get some 275/40/17 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials... because thats about the best your gonna get
