Default Pics of my 89 GT Vert

Hey guys... I am new here at Mustang Forums, but I would like to say that I really enjoy reading all the posts. Below are three pictures of my 1989 Mustang GT Convertible. I bought this car last year for my 16th birthday. I have worked my butt off practically all my life to own a muscle car. Now I own one, and I am proud to say it is a Mustang. When I bought my car, it wasn't in the best of condition, but I have been working really hard to make look the very best. Since these pictures, I have put a new convertible top and many engine modifications on my car. As soon as the weather gets a little better, I will take new updated pictures. Well this is my car, tell me what you think. Thank-you.

Looks very very clean. The paint looks perfect. Just a suggestion. In my opinion it would look better without those headlight covers, only because they seem to be sort of bulky. But its your car. It looks very nice. I dont see many verts that look that clean. Great job.

After you bought it what all did you do to get it to the look of those pics?

Man! I would love to live in your area. It looks so nice wherever that is!

I'm glad to hear good comments. Well first of all, the weather here isn't that great. I live in southern Indiana. Those pictures were taken in July. Right now we have about 2 foot of snow. The most ever in like 12 years. Basically when I first got the car, I had to do some major major cleaning. It was a little dirty. The convertible top was shot. It was ripped, faded, and leaked. So I put on a new top. Two of the rims were curbed really bad, so I replaced them. I had to replace a leaking valve cover. I had to put on a new set of four goodyear tires. I added the headlight covers. I also now have tailight covers, but they aren't in the picture. One of my quarter windows wouldn't work and finally broke. It turned out that some plastic pieces in the bottom broke, which made my window go crooked and shattered the glass. My dad and I ended up fabricating some new pieces out of steel to replace the broken plastic, and put in the new window. I had to replace all the foglights. The seat belt bezels were cracked, so I bought new ones and painted them to match the car. My ash tray door was broke. (I still haven't fixed that.) I replaced the passenger side door handle and the side mirror. I had to adhese my rearview mirror back in place. Two speakers blew. The emergency brake cables are bad, and I still haven't replaced them either, but plan to real soon. I have added several bolt-on performance parts. Also my front struts will be needing replaced fairly soon. i really like my car though. It has taken a while to get it to my specifications, but I guess when a person has muscle car, they are never completely done with it.

No, actually I paid $300 for someone to put my top on. It seemed like too big of a job, and I didn't want to tear it up. Tops are fairly hard to do, especially if you have never done one before. You really have to stretch the vinyl tight. Also, I will tell you that whether you do it or have someone else do the top, there is a defect in the mustang convertible top. You should probably search on the internet to find more information on this, but there are two springs. One on each side of the top. They have to be removed, or they will cut holes through your new top... Trust me on this. I have a friend that put on a new top on his car, and he had the holes in a couple weeks. I have had my top on for three months and there are no holes. To tell you the truth, I'm not even sure why the springs are on the car, because there is no difference in the way the top works without them. This is just a little advice so that you don't ruin a brand new top. Also I don't know what brand of top you are going to use, but mine is a "Key" top, and they are really nice.

Hey fast fox I really actually like your stang!! The reason I say this is because in my opinion I think a mustang doesn't look good as a convertable. It's just something about them that doesn't appeal to me. But yours really looks good--I think its how the red stripes blend in with the grey. I also don't think you should get rid of the rims and the headlight covers because in my opinion it adds to the look of your stang. Good luck on your future repairs and upgrades and have fun!!
