put EFI on 302W ?????

Default put EFI on 302W ?????

Hi everyone

Got a little problem here I have a 1989 mustang Lx 5.0L EFI, T5 . 2 days ago , my engine died . My damper pulley disappeared and I see a big angle at the crankshaft . Now I really need to find one other block . I know a guy who could sell me a 1985 grand marquis 5.0 (non-HO) engine for 200$ . Would it be possible to fit a 302W with its original heads , cank , piston and rods and fit my EFi intake on it ? I heard the non HO has a different firing order ....is it right , if so , what can I do?

NO

The HO firing order is different.
A non-HO firing order cam will NOT work with an HO ecu.

The fuel injectors will be firing at the wrong time.
If you try to 'move' the injector harnesses to correct the problem, then the O2's will be reading bad data.

If you do pick up this motor, you will want to change out the cam for an HO firing order...
(good excuse for a performance upgrade actually)

all you have to do is swap which injector goes where and same goes for the spark plug wires.

just plop the crank from the marquis motor in there and your good to go, polish the crank journals with some fine emory cloth and slap that puppy in there with new bearings.

question is, wouldnt it be cheaper to just buy a reground crank from the autoparts store and then you know the clearances are correct?

or is the block itself really toast?

if it is, you'll have to swap cams to retain your HO firing order, but the 85 may not be setup for roller cams. this is a good time to drop 80 bucks for a 351w flat tappet summit cam, the smallest one they make will work with stock springs and will still be better than stock. also, your E7 heads are better than the D8OE/E5AE heads that are probably on the marquis motor

Ok . So , the block is the same right ? If I only use the block of the grand marquis , Use my heads , my cam , my intakes and my EFI , It would be the same thing than my previous setting ? Am I wrong?

correct, i maywrong but i think 85's were roller motors even though they were carbed, if not just buy the retrofit kit

Ok , If it's setup for rollercam , I can use my own camshaft . If not , you suggest me to buy a 351w flat tappet summit cam ? I live in canada , so Summit is far from my home , what would you suggest me from compcam ? I don't know really much on camshaft
