id never buy a motor from ford. too expensive. almost $4000 for a gt40 motor[:'(] for that price you can rebuild a junkyard motor, throw on some afrs, edlebrock intake, full exhaust and still have cash for nitrous

True. If you know what you're doing, a DIY build will be cheaper than anything a shop can offer you, unless they owe you some favors or something.

I've got 347 kits with Scat crank, Scat 4340 forged rods, Probe SRS forged pistons, Total Seal rings and Clevite 77 bearings for $750. If you can't use that build a complete motor for under $4k, you need to find another hobby. And a majority of those crate motors aren't going to use parts that high quality.
