Replacing the cam adds 55hp?

Replacing the cam adds 55hp?
Apparently on the '96 GT the stock 215 hp can be more like 270hp by replacing the cam. It doesn't seem true to me, but you guys would know more about this than me.
Edit: Fixed the '95 to '96 to help with the confusion.
It's just a 302

Cams do help, but not as much as youd think, if you dont have the supporting mods also.To get a decent amount of power out of those things, you need to replace the heads with some good aftermarket ones. Offroad H and headers (at the very least), and at bare minumum a tune. Then you might get 55hp out of it.

RE: Replacing the cam adds 55hp?
I meant '96 GT, sorry for the confusion. And I know its the 5.0, its not even my car we are talking about though. Some twatermelon at my school said replacing the cam on his '96 will get it up to 270 hp. I told him that's bull****, but he insists I don't know anything.
Also, he has a '93 Cobra crate motor with some aluminum heads that are ported and polished (usually priced at "$2,000") and a bunch of other stuff that is running about 400hp (on the dyno the kid said..even though you only get the rwhp on a dyno). I told him he's not going to get 400 rwhp from an N/A motor. But what do I know, I just have a "****ty V6".

LOL! No replacing JUST the cam will NOT add that much power. BTW, your '95 doesnt have a 4.6, its a 5.0L.
