Default Valve Float.. SH*T

So... I was driving around tonight and i was planning to go to the track tomorrow. I never really beat on my car or bring it further than 4K. So i was driving around and pushed it up to about 5100 rpm and it sounded funny. Then i did it again and around the same rpm and sounded like it was a floating valve. The car has 115K and doesnt leak anything, i dont see why it would be doing this. anyways, anyone experience this with thir cars in simmilar condition. Im pretty pissed, because looks like valve springs next. oh yea, and the thing is totally stock other than mods in the sig. Thanks

are you sure it was valve float? were you at WOT? Might of been detonation. I've push my 130K 5.0 to 6k once, that stopped my heartbeat for a bit....[&:]

Just sounds like you've got some worn out springs. Floating valves don't tend to make a sound, you usually just feel a loss in power.

it might be, but it didnt seem so, I wasnt running high octane gas which was dumb, also, my timing is stock and car was running at a normal temperature. Also, it runs fine at idle and all other rpms. i dont know if that helps at all..

well was the car still pulling hard up to 5000 rpm's?

the stock 5.0 loses its power right before 5000 rpm's so there is really no need to push it that high.

i usually shift at 4500 when pushing the car to its limit because i have an auto and by the time the next gear engages im already at 5000 rpm's
