it was still pulling, not as hard as it does down low, also, what is the true redline in these things, yellow at 4K and red at 5800. i dont get it, i dont think it would push it that high.

i dissagree... my stocker pulls to about 5200, maybe thats because its sd tho....

and it sounds like it could be a spark advance problem... try to explain the sound better for us

ok, mine is a five speed aswell. ok, the sounds... it got really loud as a got to about 4500rpm, then i just held it for the final few. when i crossed 5K it sounded like a popping, not pinging and knocking. I have been to the track and heard cars that have floated valves before. but that is what im trying to figure out. I also have a tendency to think that it is the worst thing when it might be something simple, also, the car ran fine at idle afterwards, and didnt smell. temperature guage was normal. oil pressure good.... i dont know what else would help.

do u have a friend w. a 5.0? swap distributors w. him... your problem sounds similar to my old problem, which was a spark advance issue, ended up being a tfi, which is a cheap part from autozone. im not saying go out and buy one tm, but try to see if thats it. i remember thinking mine was valve float, lean, and all kinds of things
