Nope negative...

The big interior news for 1989 was a new 140 mph speedometer now standard on all 5.0L models replacing the wimpy 85 mph speedo in earlier models (the 140 mph speedo was introduced partway through the 1989 model year after the existing stock of 85 mph speedos were used up). -According to mustanggt.org

OH and they introduced the Forged pistons in 87, so yes your 89 has forged pistons with valve reliefs.
I actually have an 87, so do all of them have forged or did they change in mid year?? So let's say I have forged pistons, how much can they handle, more that the stock block?

Yeah it needs some work but it actually isn't too bad after actually giving it it's first wash in what looks like 5 years. I think we really got a good deal on it now that I have had a day to pick everything apart. Not to mention they left everything in the car including brand new monroe shocks and struts, two 2 ton jack stands, 2quarts of mobil 1 HAHA, some money in the arm rest, and an okay jack.

Thanks for the feed back guys!!

The 1988 Ford Mustang GT did not have a factory 140mph speedometer. Hope that's clear enough. They weren't even produced until mid 1989 so that's not possible unless your 88 is actually an 89.

Don't get angry, I am just telling you the facts directly from the horses mouth.

Oh and BTW I have owned an 88 fully loaded (85mph speedo), 89 and a 91.. The 89 was a mid production car, so it had no air bag, but it did have the 140 speedo.

OHH, yeah the police cars have special options, one being the 140mph speedo before it was ever introduced in the production cars. You have a rare breed..
