Stop arguing it was probably in there because it was a police car. My crown vic has an 85 mph speedometer while the same year police model has a 140mph speedometer.

Yep speedo changed mid year in 89. The stock engine block can handle 500HP if tuned right, I would keep it at about 425-450 to be safe. Good find, 900 bux is a steal. Needs some TLC, cannot wait to see what that 900$ car turns into.. Congrats.

OH and they introduced the Forged pistons in 87
, so yes your 89 has forged pistons with valve reliefs.
[>:] really? 87 huh....

becuase 87 was the first year of SEFI 5.0 mustangs too, huh? and 87 was the first year of WC T-5s and 8.8 rear ends?

the stock engine can handle 450bph safely w/ a good tune. the pistons, rods, crank, and block can handle that # fine with a good tune. the block itself, crank and the rods can handle 500bph safely and 550max.

Lincoln beat me to it... I wouldn't go to 500hp on the stock rotating assy... wouldn't be easy to get that out of it, anyway

Now it is growing, some good info in here for me. Yeah there was an overhang at the university of WA and he some how forgot about it and ran right under it. So he said[&:].

We just got done putting on the shocks and I was wondering if we need that spring compressor to do the struts. If we just do it while it is on the ground apposed toas on jack stands would we be fine without that tool?

heres a question, i'm not sure if I said this above but the S&S are toast on the car and we already redid the shocks and now we are waiting to get our spring compressor so we can to the struts. Can a COMPLETELY shot strut make the front end rattle and klunk like crazy over small bumps and around corners? it does okay going straight but if you hit the slightest thing it klunks. We can't see anything loose under it so we are hoping it is just a strut but we don't think something this big can be just as easy as a strut, what else would it be?
