Default Retarding Cam

I have a double roller billet trickflow timing chain with a multiple keyway crank gear. I was thinkin about retarding the cam 2 degrees to bring it up into the power band a little. I have heard when retarding you can run into piston to valve clearance problems. I measured clearancebefore I put the heads on, but don't want to pull them again and do it. Do ya'll think retarding it just 2 degrees will cause a problem?

I'd doubt it, most people say that you have to advance/retard at least four degrees to feel a difference.

2 or 4* should be fine as long as PTV clearance was not tight to begin with. Retarding the cam will move the peak HP and TQ further up in the RPM range while advancing it will do the opposite.

Ya I've heard that for every 2 degrees you retard, it usually moves the power band of the cam up 500 rpm. and visa versa. I really need a degree wheel so I can fully degree the cam the right way.

i've also heard that just like a 1.7 rocker - if your having to advance or retard your cam you didnt get the right cam to begin with

Obviously it's not the right cam. I need a custom grind but don't have the mula right now. Hopefully soon enough.

also not true about the 1.7's i just put in my custom grind cam made for 1.7 rockers. Yes they can be used to give you a little more lift without changing the cam but their not always used as just a band aid
