Default Carb ?????

I hooked up a vacuum gage and i am only reading 6 inches of vacuum at idle. I have a healthy cam listed in my sig. and man brakes. I got this reading doing what holley said, which is adjust the 4 idle screws untill max vacuum is reached with out messing with the idle. The stock power valve is 6.5. Holley said divide vacuum by 2 and this is the valve you need. I called them with my reading and they said use a 2.5. The reason i needed to change in the first place is because i was running rich. They said a smaller pavle will fix it. Anyway i put in the 2.5 power valve and now it runs like ***. No backfire, but spitting, coughing, and it just runs bad. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Any suggestions. Any one have any ideas to get this thing to run right. It was running fine before, just to rich(black smoke and fouled plugs).

Check to make sure that the gasket didnt slip on the PV. Is it running bad at idle or all through the rpms?

At idle it is fine, but it seems while accelerating through all rpms it runs really bad. It is also harder to start.
