the e brake on my 88 stang is really weak. i really have to pull it up in order to keep the car from moving(standard trans) sometimes im afraid im going to snap something with how hard i have to lift it so i dont role out or parking spots. just wondering if theres anything i can do before i wake up one morning and find my car down the street in a ditch or something. thanks

You should be able to adj it, usually underneath the handle. also, check your rear brakes too b/c the ebrake uses those brakes to hold your car and sometimes if you pull the ebrake up a couple times, it will hold quicker and tighter. but if you keep your car in 1st or reverse when u park, it won't roll anywhere.

have you checked the wear on your brake shoes and /or make sure they are in proper adjustment?

adjust the ebrake and check the rear brake pads for weak. u might also want to make sure that the ebrake cable is in good shape.
