Default T5 transmission

In my goal of converting my 96 3.8L v6 to a 5.0L, I was wondering what year T5's I could install in the car. Do I have to find one from a 94-95, or can I use an older one?

im not sure that the v6 bellhousing will bolt to the 5.0

if it does... great, if not.... you need a new bellhousing

94-95 input shafts are longer than the foxes and bell housing is different, I would say you need a 94-95 5.0 T-5 and 94-95 5.0 bellhousing, maybe the 96+ but not sure on that

Ok, I am going to the local J/Y this weekend, and am trying to build a parts list. Thanks for all the help. I know nothing about mustangs much less fords right now. I just sold my BMW M3 to build this 96 stang into a machine. Well, at least that is the plan. Other than BMW's, I was pretty much a GM fan until I bought a new one

Thanks, it is sounding like a pretty $$ project. I want to document everything. I have about 4500 to spend. I want to rebuild the 5.0L I have with the Trickflow HCI system from Summit. I just want to make sure I am leaving enough for the rest of the drivetrain. I am hoping to pull out about 400hp at the crank, and then maybe someday go with a S/C. If all goes as planned, it starts in about 1 week.
