they said do whatever after I told them about the 4 thousand dollar thing...

they just want the car to move so it doesnt leave dents in the driveway...

but they are too busy gloating about my brothers (one is a crazy good jock and the other is super smart/ gonna be Drum major in marching band..) to really care anymore... I was suprised when they said "whatever, do what it takes."

granted my mom is not too crazy about it, since she knows the power of a 5.0, but she "washed her hands of it" so thats all I need to see what I can do to fix the car.

as for the engine, the '86 sixer is a CFI, which blows, worst invention ever...and the engine I want is a carb, so all I have to worry about is ripping out the CFI crap, but I'm just afraid of ripping out the wrong stuff accidently...

now where can I find a cheap 5.0 that is stock, anyone know of anyone selling them on the forums? I have 700 right now, and I'll have a couple hundred more coming when I get paid friday...

I thought about giving Cj pony parts a call again. I dont need the acessories, my Alternator is new, (yay universal ford Alternators) the power steering pump is about 4-6 years old and works great, and I'd just get rid of the smog and A/C or at least the A/C, it doesnt work anyway... all I need is a stock and complete motor... but I cant seem to find one that doesnt have tons and tons of miles on it...

can you rent engine lifts from Autozone?

I dont have one, and even a 3.8 is a beast ot lift up....

and jasper's thinking... who knows, I dont think they are thinking...

but the wiring stuff aside, my main concern (as is most people's concern) is money, it all comes down to the bennies, and try as I might, I never seem to find myselfwith alot...[:'(]

a 351 would be nice, but I heard it takes alot of work to put one in a fox with a stock hood.. I hate cowl hoods...

I need to win the lottery... or a miracle...

Have any good local papers that sell used auto parts? Either that, or take a look on craigslist. Lots of times you can find someone just wanting to get rid of an old (to them) car, for almost dirt cheap. A running used stock efi 5.0 should cost around $200-$600. Lots of times you can get a wrecked crown vic or t-bird for 600-800. Then you have the whole car to pull the 5.0 out of, including the wiring harness and everythign you need to do the swap.

I know something wrong when we were picking out her '05 and she said "I dont want an auto because they are for pu$$ies..."

she sold her '87 GT back in '91 after my first brother was born in '90and she realized a 200 hp 2 door wasnt the best family car because 2 car seats were hard to fit in the back...( reason my brother doesnt like cars I bet... ) I rode around that thing for the first 3 years of my life, so I was exposed to the greatness that is the Mustang as an infant[8D]

but anyway, I would hate it for my poor baby to sit through another pocono winter[:'(]

Oh, and as for one having tons of miles on it, jsut replace the oil pump, oil pan gasket, and valve cover gaskets, and it'll be good to go. Those 5.0's last forever... just leak lotsa oil when they get old :-p

how do the headgaskets and valvetrain hold up? they dont blow up like 4th of july like a 3.8 does right? so a 5.0 with over 110 K is still safe to drop in?

Definately. Also, some say that the efi engines last longer because of the more precise fuel control... less knock, less gas blow by, all lead to longer life than carb engines. I have 3 5.0's, an 87 and 2 88's, both the 88's have over 200k miles, and the 87 has 145k. Under 200k on a 5.0 is still pretty good. Look at all those crown vic ex-cop and taxi cars out there, most all of them have 300k plus miles on them!
