WTF! Now it's poppng!
Iwent to replace a bad injector. My carhad beenrunning well except the injector which was sticking open and flooding cylinder #4While Ihad everything apart, I went ahead and cleaned out the lower and upper intakes, ACT, ECT and the coolant sensor for the gauge. I also put new lower and upper intake gaskets, torqued everything to specs. I removed the dizzy for more working room after marking the position of the rotor and the position of the dizzy to the block. After getting everything back together, I cranked it up and it started on the second try, not bad I thought but when I went to take it for a drive, my car started popping out of the exhaust. I had it kind of lean, so I cranked up the fuel pressure to 42lbs with the vaccuum disconnected and 38 with it on. That helped a little but it still pops under acceleration. It will sit there and idle like a champ and if I really slowly accelerate it, it will accelerate smoothly with only a few small pops. WTF did I do wrong? Is my timing off? I am seriously bummedHelp, please!!!

Did you shoot the timing though, ciz i didn marked my rotor and dizzy-block and mine popped like hell when i started it and drove. Set it at base, and it runs good now, but it doesnty like the low octane still. i think im a gear or so off with the dizzy. Good luck, id get the timing gun out if i was you

I cooled down a little and went back out to the stang and advanced the hell out of the timing and it ran much better. I think I am a tooth off. I took extra care not to do that and it seems like it did.

its your distributer. Its turned too far in advance. Happened to me once. Its when the valve strokes dont completely line up with the compression strokes from each cylinder. If problem continues, mess with the distributer a little when it is running, and do small revs to find out where its supposed to be. Good luck

take the spark plug out of the cylinder number 1 and have som1 put there finger over the hole and turn the car over for 1/2 a second continuously, ull eventually feel a small puff of air, then a big 1, then a small 1 again meaning ur piston is at the top of the cylinder, (So then ur pistons are in the right spot. Then put ur rotor inside the dizzy in the right spot under the#1 spark terminal. Then mess with ur timing
