whats the widest tire....
Im going to put new tires on but I want to go wider. I have the fender lip roll and my car is lowered 2in. I have 245/60/15 now with no rubbing and more room to spare. I was wanting 295/50/15. would that fit? or could I go bigger mabye 315/50/15. And does a lower profile like the 50 series fit better than the 60 series? because of the lesser sidewall lenght.

with also such a wide tire taken bends it will rub. you can stuff them but really not worth it. if you have such a wide tire on a narrow rim you not actually putting hte whole tire tread on the ground. i run 255/50/16 on mine

I read an artical the other day on a 88 LX that put 285's on, and he had to turn it around, If you went with 295's I would think you would have to remove it totally.. I don't think I would want to do that. Go with 285's at the most. That's huge!

Even that's a big tire... Damn, that fits stock? How about the new M/T Radials, will 255's fit?

im not running ponys, i got some ARE wheels that are 16x8 and have a deeper dish so my rubbing issues arent bad. now ponys with 245/50/16 do rub sometimes on LS1mustang's shocks. another buddy stuffed 255/50/16 BFGdrs and they rubbed liek crazy on his exhaust and shocks. with that smaller 7' wide wheel i will pinch the tire and balloon it up in the middle

what do you mean quad shocks, I only have 1 shock per side in the back. I dont worry about rubbing on the exhaust pipes either I have dumps. say If i do get a bigger tire like 295/50/15 will that give me better traction because of the bigger foot print?
Also how will it balloon up when its a smaller side wall? would it balloon up less with a 60 series sidewall?will tires fit better with a shorter sidewall?

do don't have the quad shock?...might want to check.....being a wider tire sdoesn't not mean better traction as in drag racing....or auto cross either side wall plays a big role...a short sidewall tend to roll less under the rim in hard cornering
