Im running a summit alum. radiator w/ dual puller fan new water pump and a 180* t/s and the temp. will not rise above 180 even when I beat it like a redheaded stepchild so dig into your pocket lol
that $hitty stock radiator is worthless and you can take that to the bank

With a one time over heat you are fine til 250F.
Repeated over heats will do more damage, and risk of detonation increases at higher temps...

The motor won't just blow up at 251F. However, the RISK increases dramatically as temps rise.

Start getting nervous around 220F. Below that isn't anything to worry about.

I prefer to keep my stable temp as high as possible, 200F, using a 195F stat.
Keeping the temps above 180F will improve power, economy, and decrease cylinder bore wear.

There is nothing wrong with the factory radiator. I have used one in my 408w for several months. If the cooling system is well maintained, the factory unit is more than adequate.

The only way to know the temps you are running at is with an aftermarket gauge. The stock gauge is not accurate enough to use for more than reading 'hot' or 'cold'

My random thoughts,
jason
