Default Car shaking in 1st?!?!

I don't understand this. When daily driving in traffic or at a light, when i put it in 1st and start moving, my car(tranny i guess) starts shaking pretty hard, and i'm not sure why. it just started doing this about 2 weeks ago. I KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A STICK. Anyway, i'll keep the rpms up to around 1500 even and it still does it. the only time it doesnt is when push it to around 2k rpms and feather off the clutch really lightly. it doesn't do it in any other gear at all. it feels like it may not be getting enough fuel or something, but its reving at 1500+. i thought maybe my injectors were dirty. any thoughts on this???

Is it rough idle shake or a mechanical shake?

Does it shake if you start out in second?

What were you doing when the shaking started?

Does the RPM's Change with the shake or is engine RPM steady?

When downshifting into first does the problem come back?

Does it always shake in first regaurdless of engine rpm?

Is there any noise? If so where does it come from?

Could be several things but what you are describing sounds to me like a tranny problem. It sounds like first gear may be broken. But it could be a bad clutch, u-joint or a engine problem. Tough one to diagnose without driving the car. Every little detail you can think of will help. Starting out in second "may" cause your engine to bog out a little but it will help determine if it is engine related. The first step on this is determine if it is an engine or drivetrain issue, then go from there.

my guess is chatter like above, on your clutch disk there are a few springs (usually 4 or more). when one or more go bad they bounch when the are engaged causing the feeling you notice. some times they break over time but its usually agressive clutching that does it.

Wouldn't clutch chatter show up in all gears though? Obviously more noticable in first but you wouldn't you notice it in all gears. I the last time I have onechatter it was noticable in all gears but was less noticble the higher the gear got.

it started when my fiancee had to use my car to get to work b/c i was working on hers. i'm sure that she probably burned my clutch pretty good. its a pretty violent shake. it stops when in second and so forth. sometimes it does it in reverse, but not nearly as much. its just annoying. when it starts i give it some clutch and gas and just ride it out. it feel like if you are stopped, then start moving and let of the clutch slowly, and the car shakes violently right before it stalls, but maybe just a tad more violent. i can sit there and watch my shifter just shake around like crazy. it makes like a "thud thud thud" from under the car as its doing it. when i shift, the rpms change the same as they would anytime you shift and push in the clutch. it doesn't do it when i downshift; only when i'm at a stop then start going.

chatter only apears in first as thats when there is the most load, once the 3000 pound car is moving it smuch easier. another think to check is the tranny mount, you mentioned it makes no noise in any other gear though. usually a tranny mount will cause the tranny to hop bad when you take off and bang durring shifting.

my guess is the disk is bad, yank the tranny, resurface the flywheel, and get a higher performance clutch. dont let the girlfriend drive anymore.
