I Coverted from a 2.3L C3 Automatic to 5.0L T5 5 Speed. The shifter housing on the T5 is very close to the passenger side of the opening. It is about 1/4" from it. Is this correct?

I am hoping someone has a picture with the shifter off so I can compare. I used the parts off of an 85 and put it all into the 86. The crossmember is from the 85 doner but it just doesn't look right. Installation alignment was simple the holes lined right up with no issues. It may not be an issue at all but I want to make sure.
