Little help for a noob?
I don't know crap about cars... but of course, I'm willing to learn.
I just bought this thing. I said that I didn't intend to modify this car, but after driving it, I can't help it.
What are the "easiest" and least expensive ways to improve the horsepower? (93 notchback 5.0, automatic)
Thanks.

Pulleys, exhaust, k&N filter, gears and bump the timing up to 14*
Also, remove the air silencer if it hasn't already been done.
You should be able to get all that done for about $1000 and that's if you pay someone to do the gears and install the exhaust.

a new chip on the ECU is also fairly easy to install in addition to what they already said. in my case, I did the chip first followed by underdrive pulleys, then headers and exhaust and then new rear gears.
No way is that all I've done to run 13's. LOL
I've lightened up the car by removing all the original seats and the center console in addition to the AC compressor, condenser, and lines, the smog pump, EGR valve, windshield wipers and washer, tailpipes and mufflers after the off road H-pipe, front fog light support bracket and fog lights, front sway bar, interior sound insulation materials, power steering pump (replaced with manual rack & pinion) and rear bumper. The Stang now weighs 3,140 lbs with me in it. I have a home made ram air system getting cold air from the right front fog light opening and a 65 mm throttle body and EGR spacer, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, MSD 6AL ignition and blaster coil, a Ford 9" rear end with a spool and 4.56 gears, HPM upper and lower rear control arms iwth poly bushings, pinion snubber, 10 way adjustable race shocks, 90/10 front struts with Eibach drag springs front and rear, a race built AOD with full manual valve body and 2,500 rpm stall converter and trans cooler, full Autometer gauges and tach, and subframe connectors. It also has Centerline Autodrag wheels front and rear with skinny race tires on the front and Mickey Thompson ET drag slicks, 28x10-.5" on the rear wheels. The engine is still the original one from '88, speed density and all and has over 108,000 miles on it too. I've been racing and modifying it since '94 in order to get where it is now and this winter there's a new engine on the way to get the times down into the 11's if things work out as planned.
And it going to stay ALL THROTTLE, NO BOTTLE too!
