Default New member... a couple easy noob questions?

sup guys.. bare with me for I am a noob.. and this is my first post. Btw I searched through several posts, and came up a bit empty... anyways....

My buddy just bought an 87 5.0.. the car is running very very rich, the check engine light is on and we don't yet have a manual for the car... so can you guys tell us where the data link connector is on the car? and if you can blink the check engine light to obtain the fault codes?

thanks in advance!

I think it is a plug under the hood over near the brake booster.

yea.. the O2's definetly will be replaced... but this is pretty damn rich, I'm thinking maybe more like a maf problem... I mean the exhaust will seriously choke you out!! I told him he should prolly stop driving the car till we get it fixed.. cause I'm afraid he might get carbon monoxide poisoning!

Can anyone tell me how mustangs behave if the maf fails... my maf on my Supra went out.. and the car went full rich.. it would billow black smoke and would barely run....

When a MAP sensor goes it will run like sh$t and blow black smoke. A simple way to test it, is to give a couple raps (not hard) with a small hammer or the handle of s screw driver and see if there is any change. If there is you know it's bad. As for the hookup for the tester, I haven't looked at my stang but for the explorers and stuff there are two, one in front of the relay panel box left fender kind of triangle shaped, and the other (OBDII) is under the center of the drivers side dash panel under the steering wheel, it has a small cover over it.
