Default wheel spin around a corner and from.....

o.k. I have a question, when you guys spin tires around a corner do both of your tire spin or just one. Mine only spins one when I hammer it around a corner, but from a stop in a straight line both my tires spin at the same time like they are suppose too. Is this the way the set up is suppose to work on the fox's and sn95's?

If your rear is working correctly, both should spin through the turn. The fact that it's not, is showing signs of age and wear. Whichever direction your turning, that would be the tire having the problem spinning as that tire has the most weight/pressure of the car on it.

so my trac lock should be locking even when I spin tires around the corner ( both tires).... I was told by the previous owner that he had set it up for limited slip or something like that. Well at least it works correctly when I take off hard from a stop light. Thanks Pro.

It actually gives me great control around the turn with it working the way it is. I hate when people try to blow smoke up my ***...Like the previous owner.

doesnt limited slip disengage or 'slip' when going around corners? I know that if it were a locker then you would get a nasty feeling in the rear, or a ratcheting sound from a nother type of locker

I've also heard that's how it's supposed to be. To the left mine spins both tires but to the right it does not if i'm making a hard corner. If i dump the clutch though both will spin all the time and it can go around on you pretty quick.

Limited slip, posi, trac lok, sure grip. These are all just different names for basically the same thing.

All the above are clutch type devices to try to hold the left and right axle at the same speed. You can't solidly lock them together because you need one tire to run at a different speed when for turning but for the most part the differential will try to equalize the power to each axle through friction from the clutches.

Most of the time the right rear will spin easier because the driveshaft torques the rear axle up on the right, down on the left. This essentially plants the left tire and tries to lift the right.

The bottom line is the Ford TracLok system is wimpy. Not much friction between the axles. This is bad for spirited drivers like us.

The best clutch system out there is a factory piece in old Mopars. It's called a Powerlock and it's still clutches but it doesn't rely on spring pressure to engage the clutches. A big pin is sitting in a V. When the differential is under load the pin tries to rise out of the V and compresses the clutches. No load, not much friction. Big load = big friction.

That sounds great if several of your rides do the same thing my car does, my trac lock was suppose to have been rebuilt not too long ago. I am going to see what happens when I turn left on to a road also.
