Default T-5 Whine

I hate these tranny's. The t-5 in mine started whining on me yesterday. At first just in third and now in all gears. What could cause it? Low Fluid? Wrong Fluid? Do they just take gear oil like 80w-90? Thanks in advance ya'll. Don't wanna drive it til I get it to stop whining cuase I don't have the money for a g force kit yet.

Yo this thing sounds like an old rock crusher in third.......... I just had this damn tranny apart under 3k miles ago. I've been granny shifting the hell out of it and it doesn't sound like it blew a gear. Just tons of whine.

if its really that bad all of a sudden, you better tear it back down again before it goes 'pop'

a little whine is normal, to a certain extent, as long as its gradual, over months, maybe years

well damn....... I guess I might as well pull the tranny and have a look at it. I really have no intentions of doin the gforce upgrade until I blow the thing.

Its typical in the t-5's to have the third gear whine. My sons 92 lx does the same thing but that is because the guy we bought it from grinded the **** out of the gears proshifting it. A little gear whine is normal but i'd probably take a look at it if it gets worse. It happened in my 87 capri, 86 asc maclarn and my 89 lx. In my sons car the sychros are shot so it grinds anytime you try to shift fast, he is only about 10 weeks away from buying a tko600 with his money from this summer
