timing question

i just boaught a 89 gt and i checked the timing to see what is was at and it is set at 16 degrees advanced. the car has a cold air intake and full exhaust headers back. is that to advanced i know the factory is only 10.

i dont hear any pinging at all, can to advanced timing cause and harm to the motor with out hearing pinging?

yes it can, you need to read the plugs to be sure, also you can use the diff settings at the track, when your mph falls off, your too high

12-14* is safer

read the plugs or power time it at the dragstrip
