Default Carb. Questions

What are the symptoms of a bad power valve in a Holley 6150.

The motor will not run well until about 2000 RPM. It bounces between 400 and 900 RPM. It acts almost like it has a really big cam in it but it is stock for an 85.

I checked for vacuum leaks and found none.

Also fuel bowls are leaking out the side where the metal plug is pressed in. Is there a fix for this besides replacing the fuel bowls?

A bad power valve if it's stuck open will cause terrible idling, excessive fuel consumption and the car will just plain run like crap at light part throttle but will run fine at WOT. If it somehow sticks closed(unlikely) then it will idle and drive fine at part throttle, but when you crack the throttle open it'll get lean and run like crap.

Sounds about like what I am seeing. If I punch it, it will stall a little then rev right up and run great. It will not idle.

I think it is time for a rebuild with the power valve mod or a new carb.

Does anybody have and tips or tricks when doing the rebuild?

This is a stock 85 5.0 with Zero miles on it. The exhausts is stock except for the mufflers which are glasspacks.

Please refresh my memory it has been about a decade since I messed with a Holley carb.

What about the fuel bowl leaks? It there an easy fix for those or do I need fuel bowls.
