Default Overheating

My car keeps over heating. First what happened is my lower hose blew i changed that. I had to add water to the radiator to get home. Got some money went and got coolant, added that. The next day all was fine fo r20 minutes then i overheated and popped the hood teh hose from the engine "by the fuel rails" to teh throttlebody blew changed that thought it would help it didnt. Now i removed the thermostat it stopped overheating but the temp is stuck at about 1 line from the red line on the gauge lets say about 260 degrees. Why is my car so hot for now any help or suggestions would be a huge help. Could it be that the water i put in to get home is making my engine so hot. I have a new radiator cap, 8 month old water pump all new hoses, and now i took out my thermostat. Which was seized closed by the way and that is only 8 months old too. If anyone can help me id greatly appreciate it.

water is actually better then anitfreeze to help cool a car....with coolant that high you could have a torn gasket. or maybe your fan dont work anymore

If the thermostat is still out and you live in a warm area the car will run warmer.Once the thermostat is removed the coolant/water runs to fast through the engine and radiator for it to cool down. The thermostat slows the flow down to cool it down.

leave the houseing of the thermostat in and just gut it... also if you dont have enough anti freeze the boiling point will be lower than it should be. also what psi rad cap do you have??

An often overlooked area of the cooling system is the cooling fan clutch. Make sure it still works by trying to spin it with your hand (when the engine is off). The fan shouldn't spin and feel like it has a fluid like resistance to it. If you can spin the fan a full revolution or more the vicous clutch is no longer operating and will need to be replaced.

Also, once an engine overheats once, it is prone to doing it again.

Ha.. you are very correct on that one.
On my old car (Not a mustang), within a period of 1 year I had all 6 freeze plugs rust out which had to be replaced (one by one). And the entire radiator died.. had to be replaced.

Very costly...and a large pain in the ****.
