converting a 3.8 v-6 into
I am taking a 1995 v-6 mustang and making a GT. I bought an 88 ford LTD crown vic to use for parts. It has a 5.0 EFI, I am rebuilding to be mass air, and the 8.8 rear end is just what the doctor ordered, but my question is with the trany. I need to know if the C-6 trany in the crown vic will fit in the mustang. What type of auto trans did the 95 mustang GT have, was it a C-6 or something else?

not a c6 , aod , aode basically the 5.0 stangs , i forget the name of the new auto , they are all similar to the c4 which it originated from . now it depends what route you take with this . you will need an aod-e if im not wrong . i havent tuned a 94 up stang yet but im sure i seen tables for some trans controls in 94 . so you need a aode . or you can do a tranny swap while your at it unless your set on an auto. you will need a new pcm . im better at my fox bodie swaps i would need to do some home work if you need more answers . but im almost certain its an aod-e .

The crown vic didnt have a c6 tranny, unless it was swapped by someone. I believe they came with an AOD, which would fit fine in your mustang since that is what they came with too. Get a computer from a 5 speed mass air mustang and you will be set (I think), that way you can use that AOD without any problems.</P>
On another note, a C6 will fit in the stang as well, but ur gonna need to take a sledgehammer to the firewall to bash it back some, and some modifications to the shifter area and a real short cut driveshaft too, among other things...</P><edited><editID>mdvaldosta</editID><editDate>37867.9239814815</editDate></edited>

not sure how big the bell housing is on the c6 it might work but you have to make/find crossover bar..also that engine is't an ho engine. it would be easier to go with a carb set as there will be less tuning issues.

I was advised, and always used, a m/t mass air computer whether it was an AOD, C4, C6, 5sp, or whatever to avoid any problems. I wasnt aware that the AT computers had a more aggressive tune? Hmm, before I learn something new can anyone back up what 86HOGT says? No offense, but I don't take advise until Im pretty positive it is accurate </P>
